Go WILD: A Community-Building Experience in Squamish

In Squamish, we often find ourselves highlighting the wealth of outdoor activities available—from hiking the Stawamus Chief to paddleboarding on the Howe Sound. And for good reason! The stunning natural landscape is a huge part of what makes this place so special. But there’s another side to life in Squamish that deserves just as much attention: its vibrant, welcoming community. Squamish isn’t just a place for adventure; it’s also a place to connect, grow, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures—like a beautiful, shared meal. That’s where Dine Wilder comes in.

Dine Wilder is a monthly long table dinner that brings people together in different locations around Squamish. Each event features a thoughtfully curated meal and an inspiring guest speaker, creating an experience that nourishes both body and soul. Organized by local entrepreneur Emily Shimwell, Dine Wilder aims to cultivate connection, spark meaningful conversations, and foster personal growth.

Every Dine Wilder dinner has its own special theme and guest speaker, making each gathering a unique experience. Here are a few examples of past events:

  • "Dine in Resilience": Guests gathered to hear from a local trail runner who shared stories of mental toughness and overcoming challenges in the wilderness.

  • "Dine in Creativity": This event featured a local artist who guided attendees through the process of reigniting their creative spark.

  • "Dine in Balance": A wellness coach shared tips on finding balance in our busy lives, complemented by a menu designed to promote well-being.

Coming Up: Dine in Softness – February 16th
As mid-winter sets in, it’s a natural time for reflection and self-care. The upcoming February event, aptly named "Dine in Softness", will focus on reconnecting with our inner selves. The guest speaker for this event is Courtney Thomas, founder of The Bodhi Effect, who will guide attendees in learning how to reactivate their intuition. It promises to be a deeply nourishing evening, both in terms of the meal and the wisdom shared.

I had the opportunity to take in a recent Dine Wilder dinner with my colleague Cass, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious, and the conversation flowed effortlessly.

If you’re looking to add something special to your winter calendar, I highly recommend giving Dine Wilder a try. You’ll leave with a full belly, a full heart, and maybe even a few new friends.
